The results have been exceptional, as the units are very easy to maintain and are effective in our dusty environment. We employ a traditional 10,000 cfm facility wide system. Therefore, in order to focus any dust collection, we would have to employ flex ducts and deal with the movement, damage, cleaning, etc. that would come with the added lines – not to mention the sheer number of applications needed would undermine the effectiveness of our existing unit. The $400 per filter (16 total) costs that must be removed, cleaned and reassembled already costs us over $600 a month in maintenance and sanitation labor.
Our Operators favored the units due to their flexibility in location and no filters to change! We incorporated four of the smaller units to a Micro Weight Room where we weigh out smaller than 50Ib. quantities for specific sized blends. We will continue to incorporate these units to specific areas of need in the future.We found a direct correlation to these unit’s operation and the HVAC Filtering System frequency. Our HVAC Filters in the Blend area, using the largest unit, was also reduced by 20% equating $2,700 per year cost reduction on filter changes because the HVAC was treating/recycling cleaner air. Payback on the unit was 6 months!
Where were these units, before we invested substantial capital in high maintenance portable dust collector units, during my 30+ year career in Food Manufacturing? We are just happy, at this point, that we have found a solution to this long-standing challenge in our Blending Operation and my career in the Food Industry — as a whole.”
